World No Tobacco Day

WNTD, created by the World Health Organization, is celebrated each year to inform people on the dangers of smoking and the business practices of the tobacco industry. Today is meant to be a 24-hour period of total abstinence of all forms of tobacco consumption all over the world. This year’s theme is “Gender and tobacco with an emphasis on marketing to women”.

The smokers’ response is that it’s their right to smoke but they have to know that their behavior also affects non-smokers around them. For more info on the event visit the WHO website: http://www.who.int/tobacco/communications/events/wntd/en/.
